INDIA INFO: The Vaisheshika School of Philosophy
Home > India Info

The Vaisheshika School of Philosophy

by V.A.Ponmelil  (Feedback)

Founded by the sage Kanada, the Vaisheshika School of philosophy postulates an atomic pluralism.

Accordingly all objects in the physical universe are reducible to a certain number of atoms, and the God is regarded as the fundamental force causing the consciousness in these atoms.

Even though this system is independent of the Nyaya system, both evolved due to the metaphysical theories.

It differed from Nyaya School by accepting only two sources of knowledge which are the perception and the inference.
